China Town Release Preponded, Two Mohanlal Films to fight each other

Get ready for the shocker friends.......

Yes, our Universal star Mohanlal's two of the much anticipated films, Christian Brothers and China Town are going to release within a gap of just 2 week time.

The Joshy directed multi starer Christian Brothers featuring Dileep, Suresh Gopi, Sarath Kumar, Kavya Madhavan, Lakshmi Rai, Kaniha etc along with Mohanlal was scheduled to release on this March 18th. But now it's also hearing that Rafi Mecartin's China Town featuring Dileep, Kavya Madhavan, Jayaram etc along with Mohanlal will release all across the state on March 31st itself.

This new releasing dates will affect both the films badly. Since both the films are multi starers and features almost all the popular artists from the Malayalam film industry, both are expected to fetch a thunderous initial collection. Both the films, releasing within a gap of just 12 days will affect the long run strategy and may even cause any of these films badly at the Kerala box office.

Somebody should come up and sort out this issue because it will not only affect it's cast and crew but also the whole industry, which is hoping two of the best ever crowd pullers of the recent years, through these 2 films. It is better for the makers of the film, China Town to shift it's release by a week or two in order to avoid the clash, but they are not at all willing to do this.

If the reports are to be believed, then it all started from the time when the makers of Kandahar (Aashirwaad) charted to release their film on Dec 9th, just 2 week away from the release of Christian Brothers on Nov 25th. Then the makers of Christian Brothers were forced to shift their release to this year January and but unfortunately they were not able to release the film due to some last minute problems.

Thus the release of the film gets again shifted to this March 18th, but now again the banner of Aashirwaad are coming with their yet another movie, China Town. But this time, the makers of Christian Brothers are ready for anything and they don't want to shift the release further ahead. Also the makers of China Town are not in a mood for a compromise, they are gearing up to release their film on March 31st itself.

Let's hope, this issue will get sort out quickly.....

Collection report of Shikkar - Megahit of this year

God's own Superstar Mohanlal's last release was Shikkar on Sept 9th and the film had a tremendous first day collection of about Rs 1.3 cr from around 101 theaters. This is the third highest initial day collection for a Malayalam movie after Mohanlal's Saagar Alias Jacky (Rs 1.75 cr) and Pokkiriraja (Rs 1.67 cr).

Some among the malayali audiences think that after the initial hype this Mohanlal film Shikkar gets a dip in it's collection and it even failed to recover it's cost. For those, here is the actual stats of how much this film had gathered so far from it's theatrical run. Shikkar, Mohanlal's this year's Ramzan release had collected exactly about Rs 14.4 cr from the theaters itself with a distributor share of around Rs 6.9 cr in it's 50 day run, and the glorious run of Shikkar is still going strong in B & C centers.

Shikkar is this year's second highest grosser after the Pokkiriraja (Rs 18 cr). Pokkiriraja did it because there wasn't any great film to compete with it but it was not the case of Shikkar. All the films released during this Ramzan season were good and Shikkar had to really work it hard. The fact is clear when you check it out that all the 3 Ramzan releases were declared as hits, while Shikkar going on to make it a Megahit with it's awesome collection.

Also, Shikkar is the biggest solo hit for any actor in this year. The film, made in a budget of around Rs 5 cr thus have made it into the Megahit tag without any doubt. The film turns out to be a great one for it's producer by etching some whooping amounts of about Rs 1.9 cr as Satellite right by Asianet, Rs 2.2 cr as Overseas + Video + Audio rights.

Also,some people think that Elsamma is the real hit among this year's Ramzan releases. It's a true fact that Elsamma is a hit when the total collection of this film is compared with it's total budget and it should be noted that it is nowhere near the total collection of Shikkar, mainly due to the stupendous initials that this Mohanlal starer had earned. It's also true that the gross collection of Elsamma from the 4th week onwards is higher when compared to that of Shikkar.

All this was possible for Shikkar, mainly due to the charismatic presence of our dearest lalettan in it and the same is being expected from his upcoming releases like Kandahar, Christian Brothers, Casanovva, China Town etc.

Shikkar still going strong all across the state

God's own Superstar Mohanlal's this years Ramzan release Shikkar has been well accepted by the viewers and is now declared as one of the big hits of this year. This new Mohanlal starer is still running in almost all the major centers in Kerala and has grossed over 10 crores within it's 22 day run, which is an extra ordinary statistics. The film is still continuing it's hunt in about 48 centers.

Lal Jose directed Elsamma Enna Aankutty is also doing a descent job at the Kerala Box office, though the collection of this film is not even half way mark closer to what Shikkar had earned. This film too is running in almost all the major centers in Kerala and had collected around 4.8 crores with it's 4 week run at the box office. The film is still remaining in about 47 centers.

Among this years Ramzan releases, Mammootty's Pranchiyettan & The Saint remains at the third spot and the film has earned around 4 crores from it's 4 week run at the Kerala Box office. The sad thing related with this film is that this film has now been removed from some of the major releasing stations in Kerala. Also the film is remaining only in about 23 centers all across the state.

Vande Matharam, yet another Mammootty starer that released two weeks after the Ramzan releases was a disaster at the Kerala Box office. The film was not even able to fetch a descent initial for it and as a result the film got hold over from almost all the major centers in it's first week itself. This film only collected around 1.5 crore in total from it's 2 week run at the Kerala Box office and is only remaining in less than 10 theaters all across the state.

It's quite clear that with the release of Superstar Rajnikant's magnum opus Enthiran, the most affected films happens to be Mammootty's both the films, Pranchiyettan & The Saint and Vande Matharam. The other two films, Shikkar and Elsamma Enna Aankutty were able to stand strong against the great wave created by directed Shanker's Enthiran at the Kerala Box office.

Shikkar : Numero Uno at the Kerala Box-office

All the Ramzan releases has now completed one week at the Kerala box office and the collections for each of the films are listed below.

Shikkar is still going strong all over, not only in Kerala but also in the other parts of the world. This new Mohanlal starer had an extraordinary opening from it's 101 screens in Kerala. Also this film did well in other places like Chennai, Banglore etc. This film has netted in a whooping amount of Rs 6.5 crore from it's first week. This will mark about Rs 3.25 crore as it's distributer share.

Surprisingly, Lal Jose directed Elsamma Enna Aankutty has emerged as the runner up at the box office. This youngster film from the noted director had fetched around Rs 1.54 Crore from 63 releasing centers in Kerala. At third is Mammootty-Renjith teams Pranchiyettan & The Saint, which is having not a great run at the box office. This film had collected Rs 1.42 Crore in a week from 61 screens in Kerala.

According to the trade, Shikkar is all set to become one of the major hits at the box office in recent times. Where as, the other two Ramzan releases may end up as profit making films, which will heavily depend on the other main releases to follow.

The main other releases to follow are Mammootty's much delayed Vande Matharam, Jayasurya's Cocktail, Indrajith's Chekavar and Prithviraj's Anwar. Out of these, Mammootty's Vande Matharam has released yesterday and as per the initial day report this film will end up as a disaster and so won't make any waves at the Kerala box office.

Malayalam Box Office Report: Shikkar Mania all over

A good news for all the Mohanlal fans to cheer up. His latest film Shikkar has now been declared by the trade analysts as a blockbuster. The film which started off with a big bang has now earned a whooping amount of Rs. 4.8 crores as it's gross from the first 4 days.

This new Mohanlal starrer is going strong all across the Kerala with only positive reviews coming from all around. Mohanlal fans are celebrating this film in a grant fashion since it happens to be the much awaited film from their hero. The way this film is running in Kerala had made it's lead actor Mohanlal happy and as a result of it he said that he will now be more selective with his films.

This film released along with the other two Ramzan releases Mammootty's Pranchiettan & The Saint and Lal Jose's Elsamma Enna Aankutty. Both these films doesn't live up to their expectations, so will have to suffer from the hands of Mohanlal's Shikkar. As per the trade, both these films may end up it's run with some smile to their producers but the clear winner of this season is Mohanlal's Shikkar.

According to a close friend of mine from the film industry, Shikkar had earned Rs. 4.8 crores from it's initial 4 days where as Mammootty's Pranchiettan & The Saint earned around Rs. 1.8 in it's 3 day run and Elsamma with Rs. 2.2 from the same number of days. The way in which Shikkar is progressing may help it to become the biggest hit ever in the Malayalam film industry.

Initial day collection reports of Mohanlal's Shikkar

Quite clearly, it's now proven that Mohanlal is the undisputed King in the Malayalam film industry. Mohanlal's this years Ramzan release, Shikkar started off in a grand fashion with some tremendous collections from all across the state.

The main point to be noted is that the entire shows on the releasing day of this film were house fulls and as a result it had netted in a whooping amount of Rs. 1.3 crores as it's gross for the day. This is only third in terms of the collection report for the first day by a film, where the first spot too belongs to a Mohanlal film, Saagar Alias Jacky - Reloaded and Pokkiri Raja in the second spot.

Saagar Alias Jacky had netted in an amount of about Rs. 1.75 crores in it's initial day and pokkir Raja got about 1.67 on its first day. The following spots are equipped by Pazhassiraja(Rs. 1.2 crores), Kurukshetra(Rs. 98 lakhs) and Twenty 20(Rs. 96 lakhs).

'Oru Naal Varum' going strong all over

Lalettan is back..... Universal star Mohanlal's latest film Oru Naal Varum co-starring with Sreenivasan has taken a bumber opening all across the state and the film is the clear winner at the Kerala Box-0ffice. The film that has grossed around Rs. 2.3 crores share in it's first week and is surely going to be the much awaited hit for Mohanlal.

There was a purposeful move by some section of viewers against this Mohanlal starrer to establish that it is a utter waste movie but the film lovers, especially the family audiences all across Kerala had proven them wrong. They have rushed into their nearby theaters and hence made this film the numero uno at the Kerala Box-office for the past week.

Bhramaram ruling the Malayalam box office

Malayalam film industry is currently in a comeback path. About 4 of the films that got released during this year's summer season have been declared as profit makers. This is for the first time that so much Malayalam films are doing such a mind blowing business in a single season itself. Things didn't get finished by this, more movies are following the same way as their predecessors. The top 5 Malayalam movies of this week are,

1) Bhramaram : This new Mohanlal starrer have taken a thunderous opening all across the Kerala and is still doing excellent business in most of the releasing stations. This film have been well appreciated by both the critics as well as the audience. This film directed by Blessey, is a wonderful movie with a simple story, good script, and a great performance from the legend Mohanlal. 2) Ivar Vivahitharayal : This film is now Jayasurya's biggest ever solo hit as the lead actor. Neat Script, Suraj's acting, Songs and lot others are the major plus for the movie. This movie will do good in coming weeks because youth and family love to see the movie. This new film is well placed at the second position.

3) Bhagyadevatha : This film directed by veteran Sathyan Anthicad has been able to hit the proper section of the viewers that it was aiming, family audiences. This film is now declared as a hit film only because of the fact that family audiences just loved watching this movie. This Jayaram starrer is doing good business at some centers.

4) Passenger : This film is the only surprise hit of the year so far. This film that featured Dileep, Sreenivasan and Mamta in the lead get noticed for the freshness in it. This edge of the seat, taut thriller, directed by Ranjith Shankar has been declared a Super hit by the Kerala trade.

5) 2 Harihar Nagar : This film is the only blockbuster of the year so far. Lal's Vishu release, a second part to the yesteryear hit In Harihar Nagar, this film have done some awesome business so far and is still doing brisk business at B centers.

Sagar Alias jacky Reloaded Box Office Reports

The Kerala box-office was thunderousily stirred by Mohanlal’s latest release Sagar alias Jacky Reloaded in the last days of March. What a splendid initial response in the theatre for the movie?The movie SAJ reloaded has taken a distributors' share of approximately Rs 1.70 crore from March 26 to 31, from 101 screens. In Thiruvananthapuram only, it has grossed Rs 22 lakh gross from three screens, which is amazing.With these collections it is the number one movie of last month.

At number two is Magante Achan, which continues to do fantastic business. Red Chillies has taken a beating and is down at the third postion.RedChillies collected a distributors share of around Rs 3.5 crore in the long run. In the fourth position is Bharya Swantham Suharthu, which has picked up very well all over Kerala.In the fifth place is the long-in-the-cans Nammal Thammil, which looks stale everywhere, and did not even take a decent opening.

Saagar Alias Jacky Reloaded Set Initial records

Sagar Alias jacky Reloaded,the most malayalam stylish movie ever made set some records.Sagar alias jacky reloaded has broken the initial collection record of multi-starrer Twenty 20. This film made a history by playing about 511 shows in a single day. Another record is that Sagar alias jacky reloaded has become the first malayalam movie which played more than 1000 housefull shows within 3 days of release.

Mohanlal’s distribution concern Maxlabs has taken a whopping distributors share of Rs 1.33 crore within four days of Sagar alias Jacky release (March 26 to 29). It is a record opening share from 101 screens.It has a budget of about 4.5 crores.The film is surely a hit.The collecion from today onward will depend on depends on how good the other three big Easter-Vishu releases are- 2 Harihar Nagar releasing on April 1, IG on April 3 and Moss and Cat on April 12.

Sagar Alias Jacky is the stylish role played by Mohanlal ever. Anyway lets hope for the best.

RedChillies Box Office Reports

Mohanlal’s Red Chillies took a very good opening, but could not sustain after the first week. However it is OK, for its producers Rajaputra Renjith and distributor Vysakha Rajan. They may recover their investment and get a distributors share of around Rs 3.5 crore in the long run. For Mohanlal it keeps him afloat, and Shaji Kailas gets one more chance to do another larger than life character.

The film is to be considered as an above average film.

Red Chillies Initial Reports

Red Chillies, Mohanlal's first movie of the 2009 directed by Shaji kailas made it to the theatres with good initial collections. The movie produced by Rejaputhra films and distributed by Vysakaha release was released in around 65 theatres in the state .

The investigative thriller have Lal playing the role of OMR, an NRI who runs an FM station in the state. As per the early reports, the film is receiving very good collection reports from the very first day of release.The film is all about a murder mystery revolving around a gang of nine Radio Jockeys who were working for OMR (Mohanlal).

Many have opined that the movie, though with a slow beggining, has been an edge of the seat entertainer and will become the first hit of the year.
