Collection report of Shikkar - Megahit of this year

God's own Superstar Mohanlal's last release was Shikkar on Sept 9th and the film had a tremendous first day collection of about Rs 1.3 cr from around 101 theaters. This is the third highest initial day collection for a Malayalam movie after Mohanlal's Saagar Alias Jacky (Rs 1.75 cr) and Pokkiriraja (Rs 1.67 cr).

Some among the malayali audiences think that after the initial hype this Mohanlal film Shikkar gets a dip in it's collection and it even failed to recover it's cost. For those, here is the actual stats of how much this film had gathered so far from it's theatrical run. Shikkar, Mohanlal's this year's Ramzan release had collected exactly about Rs 14.4 cr from the theaters itself with a distributor share of around Rs 6.9 cr in it's 50 day run, and the glorious run of Shikkar is still going strong in B & C centers.

Shikkar is this year's second highest grosser after the Pokkiriraja (Rs 18 cr). Pokkiriraja did it because there wasn't any great film to compete with it but it was not the case of Shikkar. All the films released during this Ramzan season were good and Shikkar had to really work it hard. The fact is clear when you check it out that all the 3 Ramzan releases were declared as hits, while Shikkar going on to make it a Megahit with it's awesome collection.

Also, Shikkar is the biggest solo hit for any actor in this year. The film, made in a budget of around Rs 5 cr thus have made it into the Megahit tag without any doubt. The film turns out to be a great one for it's producer by etching some whooping amounts of about Rs 1.9 cr as Satellite right by Asianet, Rs 2.2 cr as Overseas + Video + Audio rights.

Also,some people think that Elsamma is the real hit among this year's Ramzan releases. It's a true fact that Elsamma is a hit when the total collection of this film is compared with it's total budget and it should be noted that it is nowhere near the total collection of Shikkar, mainly due to the stupendous initials that this Mohanlal starer had earned. It's also true that the gross collection of Elsamma from the 4th week onwards is higher when compared to that of Shikkar.

All this was possible for Shikkar, mainly due to the charismatic presence of our dearest lalettan in it and the same is being expected from his upcoming releases like Kandahar, Christian Brothers, Casanovva, China Town etc.

Shikkar still going strong all across the state

God's own Superstar Mohanlal's this years Ramzan release Shikkar has been well accepted by the viewers and is now declared as one of the big hits of this year. This new Mohanlal starer is still running in almost all the major centers in Kerala and has grossed over 10 crores within it's 22 day run, which is an extra ordinary statistics. The film is still continuing it's hunt in about 48 centers.

Lal Jose directed Elsamma Enna Aankutty is also doing a descent job at the Kerala Box office, though the collection of this film is not even half way mark closer to what Shikkar had earned. This film too is running in almost all the major centers in Kerala and had collected around 4.8 crores with it's 4 week run at the box office. The film is still remaining in about 47 centers.

Among this years Ramzan releases, Mammootty's Pranchiyettan & The Saint remains at the third spot and the film has earned around 4 crores from it's 4 week run at the Kerala Box office. The sad thing related with this film is that this film has now been removed from some of the major releasing stations in Kerala. Also the film is remaining only in about 23 centers all across the state.

Vande Matharam, yet another Mammootty starer that released two weeks after the Ramzan releases was a disaster at the Kerala Box office. The film was not even able to fetch a descent initial for it and as a result the film got hold over from almost all the major centers in it's first week itself. This film only collected around 1.5 crore in total from it's 2 week run at the Kerala Box office and is only remaining in less than 10 theaters all across the state.

It's quite clear that with the release of Superstar Rajnikant's magnum opus Enthiran, the most affected films happens to be Mammootty's both the films, Pranchiyettan & The Saint and Vande Matharam. The other two films, Shikkar and Elsamma Enna Aankutty were able to stand strong against the great wave created by directed Shanker's Enthiran at the Kerala Box office.

Shikkar : Numero Uno at the Kerala Box-office

All the Ramzan releases has now completed one week at the Kerala box office and the collections for each of the films are listed below.

Shikkar is still going strong all over, not only in Kerala but also in the other parts of the world. This new Mohanlal starer had an extraordinary opening from it's 101 screens in Kerala. Also this film did well in other places like Chennai, Banglore etc. This film has netted in a whooping amount of Rs 6.5 crore from it's first week. This will mark about Rs 3.25 crore as it's distributer share.

Surprisingly, Lal Jose directed Elsamma Enna Aankutty has emerged as the runner up at the box office. This youngster film from the noted director had fetched around Rs 1.54 Crore from 63 releasing centers in Kerala. At third is Mammootty-Renjith teams Pranchiyettan & The Saint, which is having not a great run at the box office. This film had collected Rs 1.42 Crore in a week from 61 screens in Kerala.

According to the trade, Shikkar is all set to become one of the major hits at the box office in recent times. Where as, the other two Ramzan releases may end up as profit making films, which will heavily depend on the other main releases to follow.

The main other releases to follow are Mammootty's much delayed Vande Matharam, Jayasurya's Cocktail, Indrajith's Chekavar and Prithviraj's Anwar. Out of these, Mammootty's Vande Matharam has released yesterday and as per the initial day report this film will end up as a disaster and so won't make any waves at the Kerala box office.

Malayalam Box Office Report: Shikkar Mania all over

A good news for all the Mohanlal fans to cheer up. His latest film Shikkar has now been declared by the trade analysts as a blockbuster. The film which started off with a big bang has now earned a whooping amount of Rs. 4.8 crores as it's gross from the first 4 days.

This new Mohanlal starrer is going strong all across the Kerala with only positive reviews coming from all around. Mohanlal fans are celebrating this film in a grant fashion since it happens to be the much awaited film from their hero. The way this film is running in Kerala had made it's lead actor Mohanlal happy and as a result of it he said that he will now be more selective with his films.

This film released along with the other two Ramzan releases Mammootty's Pranchiettan & The Saint and Lal Jose's Elsamma Enna Aankutty. Both these films doesn't live up to their expectations, so will have to suffer from the hands of Mohanlal's Shikkar. As per the trade, both these films may end up it's run with some smile to their producers but the clear winner of this season is Mohanlal's Shikkar.

According to a close friend of mine from the film industry, Shikkar had earned Rs. 4.8 crores from it's initial 4 days where as Mammootty's Pranchiettan & The Saint earned around Rs. 1.8 in it's 3 day run and Elsamma with Rs. 2.2 from the same number of days. The way in which Shikkar is progressing may help it to become the biggest hit ever in the Malayalam film industry.

Initial day collection reports of Mohanlal's Shikkar

Quite clearly, it's now proven that Mohanlal is the undisputed King in the Malayalam film industry. Mohanlal's this years Ramzan release, Shikkar started off in a grand fashion with some tremendous collections from all across the state.

The main point to be noted is that the entire shows on the releasing day of this film were house fulls and as a result it had netted in a whooping amount of Rs. 1.3 crores as it's gross for the day. This is only third in terms of the collection report for the first day by a film, where the first spot too belongs to a Mohanlal film, Saagar Alias Jacky - Reloaded and Pokkiri Raja in the second spot.

Saagar Alias Jacky had netted in an amount of about Rs. 1.75 crores in it's initial day and pokkir Raja got about 1.67 on its first day. The following spots are equipped by Pazhassiraja(Rs. 1.2 crores), Kurukshetra(Rs. 98 lakhs) and Twenty 20(Rs. 96 lakhs).

Sure, this film is a dashing comeback from our Universal star Mohanlal after a string of flops. Shikkar is the latest film that released today with our lalettan in the lead role. The film released in exactly 101 theaters out of which 82 centers are in Kerala.

As expected, this film started of with the typical lalettan collections all across the state and had proven that no one can match up with the immense popularity of our lalettan among the Kerala audience. The film is carrying a very good first day report and is sure to become the much awaited blockbuster for Mohanlal.

This new film Shikkar is a pure family film with well mixed action sequences in it. The major plus point of this film is that it is a well packed movie, with all the essential ingredients mixed in the right proportion. This film is all about revenge and family relationships.

M Padmakumar, who is known to be a good director but with less box office hits had shown everyone that his real talent in this field is yet to be revealed and same is the case with the script writer S Suresh Babu. They both had come up with a marvelous film which was well supported by the entire cast and crew of this film, especially Mohanlal.

In the acting side, simply Mohanlal is awesome and is a real treat to watch. He single handedly carries this film forward. Even though, his role is a short one, Samudrakani's performance in the film should be mentioned. He will be a surprising factor for the viewers of this film and had done his short role superbly. Ananya, as Mohanlal's daughter, had also come up with a superb performance, especially in the stunning climax sequences.

Sneha, as Mohanlal's wife, had nothing much to perform but she did justice to her short role with a descent performance. All the others, especially Kailash, Lalu Alex, Kalabhavan Mani, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy and Thalaivasal Vijay had performed well. Even though, Jagathy and Suraj had done well, their respective characters in this film had let them down.

In the technical side, the most impressive work in this film was by the cinematographer Manoj Pillah, who had done a splendid work. The visuals in this film are really mind blowing, especially those visuals of Guna caves in the climax. The music department, including the background score was also good and has kept it's mark.

In simple words, this new Mohanlal starer, Shikkar is a visual treat, which can be undoubtedly enjoyed by all sort of viewers. So, go and enjoy this film with your family in the near by theaters..

Shikkar, one of the most expected malayalam movie of 2010 released today in 101 theatres. As per the intial reports the movie kept its expections and it is simply an awesome movie. Good reports are coming from all part of the kerala and it will be a strong comeback of God's Own Superstar Mohanlal with his extraordinary performance.

Shikkar is family action thriller which comprises good story, action, super suspense and stunning climax. M Padmakumar's Shikkar features the Superstar Mohanlal, Ananya, Samudrakani and Sneha in main roles. Once again Mohanlal comes with a strong and different character and shows his range of acting. Shikkar is all about the story of a wounded father hunted by someone and it is about the struggle of a Man to Live and it is all about the Hunter and the Wounded ..

As told earlier, the movie is a suspense family thriller with super climax. While coming to the performances Mohanlal is once again superb with powerpacked performance and also Samudrkani and Ananya has done brillinatly there roles. Other supporting casts also did justice to their roles. Mohanlal looks more energetic and after a long gap we are seeing such performance from him espescially in the climax scene.

Other positives of the movie are stunning climax, nice songs, Locations, background score, nice picturization. M Padmakumar directed the movie brilliantly and shikkar will be the best film in his career as director. Once again Manoj Pillai did his works superbly as the cinematographer. The only negative of the movie is the some over comedy done by Suraj Venjaranmoodu.

The first half of the movie is good and the second half is extra ordinary. The movie will be a sure visual treat to all. So don't miss it..

Shikkar releasing date confirmed on Sept 9th

The latest to hear about our Universal star Mohanlal's upcoming release, Shikkar-The Hunt is that this new Malayalam film will grace the theaters on Sept 9th itself. Mohanlal Calls Ananya Mollywood’s Vijayashanthi

The young South Indian actress Ananya, who has recently shot for the Malayalam movie Shikar, has been able to impress her on-screen father, the megastar Mohanlal. He was so impressed by her daring acts that he named her as Mollywood’s Vijayashanthi.

Ananya is a budding talent in Mollywood, who has received appreciation for her work in the Tamil movie Naadodigal. The actress has reportedly performed a daring stunt in Mohanlal starrer Shikar and thus impressed him. He was very happy to see her commitment for work.

The impressing moment was the climax scene of Shikar, where Ananya was supposed to hang by a rope from a tree standing inclined over a hillside. Her on-screen father Mohanlal was to rescue her from there by risking his life. Mohanlal and the director M. Padmakumar suggested the scene to be shot with a body double. But the brave girl Ananya insisted to do the act herself as she thought it would be a big benefit for the movie.

Ananya completed the shot hanging on the rope until Mohanlal brought her from there safely. When the cinematographer Manoj Pillai confirmed the shot, Mohanlal offered her a firm handshake and gave that big compliment.

Shikkar hits the theaters on September 9th

Mohanlal's upcoming flick Shikkar directed by M. Padmakumar will hit the theaters on September 9th. Aashirvad/Max Lab will bring Shikkar to the theaters. The movie which moves along a family track with thrilling action sequences is pitted to bring out the marvelous actor in Mohanlal once again.

Shikar Shooting Completed

Mohanlal has completed the entire shoot of his Padmakumar directed Shikar. He completed the climax of the film at Guna caves in Kodaikanal. It got its name as many years back Kamal Hassan shot his Guna in these caves.

Mohanlal tweeted: “ I shot the climax of Shikar in some of the most dangerous places in the hills and caves of Kodai, including a place called Devils Kitchen”. In the film Mohanlal plays Balaraman, a lorry driver, and the story is of his unusual revenge.

Devil's Kitchen is a very dangerous deep hidden ravine that looks like small dark gutters but are actually a deep fall. Mohanlal is very excited about the film and the way it has shaped out. Says Mohanlal: “It is by far the best stunts I have ever done! Shikar has turned out great.”

Ananya of 'Nadodigal' fame plays Mohanlal’s daughter and Sneha does his wife’s role. Samuthirakani, Kollywood’s hot shot director plays the villain and in supporting role there is Kalabhavan Mani, Jagathy Sreekumar, Lalu Alex, Sadiq, Appa Haja and Suraj Venjaramood .

Nadodigal fame Samuthirakani debuts in Malayalam through Mohanlal's Shikar

The latest news from the malayalam film industry is that the top Tamil director Samuthirakani of Nadodigal fame is playing villain in Mohanlal’s Malayalam film Shikar, directed by Padmakumar. Mohanlal was very impressed with Samuthirakani’s performance in Subramaniapuram and the way he performed his role as the politician villain. It was Mohanlal who recommended his name to Padmakumar,

In the film, Mohanlal plays Balaraman a lorry driver who transports goods between cities in south India. He is on a mission seeking revenge. Shikar provides Samuthirakani equal footing with Mohanlal. Ananya, Samuthirakani’s Nadodigal heroine is playing Mohanlal’s daughter, while Lakshmi Gopalasamy plays the wife’s role. The shooting of Shikar has started in Kothamangalam, a hilly town in Idukki district of Kerala. The film is slated to be Mohanlal’s big Onam release in September.

MohanLal's latest Movie 'Shikar'

Only a few can forget the amazing performance of Mohanlal in his recent movie ‘Bhramaram’. He had been excellent in all the sequences, though the scenes where he drove the jeep through the undulating roads in the hilltops were a standout. Anyhow, Mohanlal is once again planning to be on a similar role in the new movie ‘Shikaar’.

To be directed by M Padmakumar, the movie will have the super star as a Lorry driver who runs between the hilltops of Idukky with loads of reeds. The character named as Balaraman is the father of a grown up girl, but who holds a lot of mystery around him. Scripted by S Sureshbabu, the movie will have Padmapriya and Ananya as the heroines. Mukesh, Suraj, Jagathy and Shivaji Guruvayoor are also in the cast of ‘Shikkaar’ which will be shot at Adimali, Thoothukudi and Hyderabad.

Baby Shamili to act as daughter of Mohanlal

M Padmakumar is back in business with a Mohanlal starrer Shikar - The hunt. Padmakumar is considered to be one of the talented youngster director in Malayalam film industry. His previous films except the recently done, Mammootty starrer, Parunthu were good examples for his immense talent. Parunthu was a total disaster where as his other 3 films that featured young actor Prithviraj was critically well acclaimed.

Padmakumar's new Mohanlal starrer is considered to be a family entertainer. This new film that is to be produced by Tetco Group will have the script penned by S Suresh Babu. The music department of this new film will be handled by the team M Jayachandran and Gireesh Puthenchery. The more interesting news that is in relation with this film is that yesteryear child artist Shamili is going to play a vital role as a grown up girl in this film. In this film, Shamili will appear as the daughter of Mohanlal.

Shamili, popularly known as Baby Shamili was previously seen in some old Malayalam movies as a child artist. Her some fo the notable performances were in the films like Malooti, Nirnayam etc in Malayalam and Anjaly in Tamil. She had last acted for a Malayalam movie in Harikrishnans, about a decade back. She is also the sister of popular yesteryear actress Shalini, wife of Tamil star Ajith.

Shamili have now started her second innings in film field as a lead lady for a yet to be released Telugu film. Reports are there, saying that she is again going to do a Telugu film, as the heroine of young actor Siddharth. This yet to be titled film will be directed by Anand Ranga.

Mohanlal's new film 'Shikar - The Hunt'

M Padmakumar is back in business after the debacle of his recent release Parunthu, which featured Superstar Mammootty in it. M Padmakumar is considered to be a talented director among the young directors in Malayalam film industry. All his films except Parunthu had good reviews but failed to make benefit because of the absence of any Superstar in it. That's why he made a Superstar film, but it failed miserably at the Box ofice.

Now M Padmakumar is not in a mood to try another without a superstar. He has announced his new project in the title Shikar - The Hunt. The hero of this movie is none other than the Superstar of Malayalam, Mohanlal. This is for the first time that the team of M Padmakumar and Mohanlal are joining together for a film.

This new venture produced by Tetco Rajagopal will be scripted by S Sureshbabu. Gireesh Puthencheery and M Jayachandran will be in charge of the music department of this movie. The composing work of the movie is presently on its way in Dubai. The shooting for this new movie will start very soon.

M Padmakumar is very keen to bring back his image of a good director of excellent films with this Mohanlal starrer. His first three films were good films with rave reviews. All that films featured younger superstar of Mollywood, Prithviraj in it. His previous films were Ammakilikoodu, Vargam and Vaasthavam, out of which Prithviraj bagged best actor award of State for his performance in the film Vaasthavam.
