Lieutenant Colonel Mohanlal honoured withe Sri Chithira Thirunal Award 2009 on last sunday 2009. He collected the award from the Chief of Army Staff General Deepak Kapoor in Thiruvananthapuram. The Chithira Thirunal Award was instituted by the Sree Chithira Tirunal Trust in memory of the King of Travancore.
Only a few can forget the amazing performance of Mohanlal in his recent movie ‘Bhramaram’. He had been excellent in all the sequences, though the scenes where he drove the jeep through the undulating roads in the hilltops were a standout. Anyhow, Mohanlal is once again planning to be on a similar role in the new movie ‘Shikaar’.
To be directed by M Padmakumar, the movie will have the super star as a Lorry driver who runs between the hilltops of Idukky with loads of reeds. The character named as Balaraman is the father of a grown up girl, but who holds a lot of mystery around him. Scripted by S Sureshbabu, the movie will have Padmapriya and Ananya as the heroines. Mukesh, Suraj, Jagathy and Shivaji Guruvayoor are also in the cast of ‘Shikkaar’ which will be shot at Adimali, Thoothukudi and Hyderabad.

The only Super star of Mollywood, Mohanlal's easy acting methods, maneuvers and his open life styles had long been a subject of study to much of those in Kerala who always loved serious cinema. And now a book is coming out on the star and his life in the title ‘Mohanlal, Oru Malayaliyude Jeevitham’ (Mohanlal, the Life of a Keralite). Written by journalists A. Chandrasekhar and Gireesh Balakrishnan, the official release of the book was made by actor-director Madhupal, a couple of days ago.
The superstar was also a part of the releasing function as the chief guest. Amidst his talk with his characteristic humbleness, Lal opined that the book was not on him, but it was an analysis and comparison of the life of an average Keralite with his on-screen portrayal of the characters. Madhupal was in the opinion that there were certainly a synergy between the way Keralites lived their life and the way it was presented by the versatile actor in Mohanlal, through his realistic characters.

Mohanlal has mesmerized the audiences with his stage play Chayamukhi in many metros in India and select towns in Kerala. Now this Diwali (Oct 17) Mohanlal is going to stage it for the first time in his adopted hometown Kochi.
Chayamukhi will be staged at JT Pac state of art auditorium in Tripunithara on Saturday (Oct 17) Diwali evening. Almost all the tickets at the 679 seater auditorium has been sold out. Radio Mango, the official partners of the event will also give tickets to winners of their contest.
Chayamukhi is based on a folk tale in Mahabharata and Mohanlal plays the role of Bheema. Actor Mukesh also plays a pivotal role in the play. The play produced by Kalidas Visual Magic has already sold out the tickets for as many as the 679 seats in the auditorium. This is an impetus for reviving the theatre tradition in Kerala.
