Mohanlal now Dr.Mohanlal

Our Universal star Mohanlal is now onwards Dr.Mohanlal. He was conferred honorary doctorate by the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady. Along with Mohanlal, Oscar award winner Resul Pookutty too was conferred honorary doctorate at the same event.

The Kerala Governor RS Gavai awarded the doctorates to Mohanlal and Resul Pookutty. The governor in his speech said- “Mohanlal is an excellent performer the world over. He has an inborn flair for spontaneous acting. Ranging from that of a rustic, innocent lover to a crafty villain, from a devoted patriot to a passionate father, Mohanlal has essayed a rich variety of roles with equal ease and poise.”

Mohanlal dedicated the award to his late father Viswanathan Nair. He said his father a bureaucrat wanted him to go for higher studies but never stood in his way once he decided to become an actor. The actor said: “I would like to dedicate this honor to my late father". Mohanlal’s mother Santhakumari, uncle Radhakrishnan Nair and wife Suchitra were present on the occasion.
