Collection report of Shikkar - Megahit of this year

God's own Superstar Mohanlal's last release was Shikkar on Sept 9th and the film had a tremendous first day collection of about Rs 1.3 cr from around 101 theaters. This is the third highest initial day collection for a Malayalam movie after Mohanlal's Saagar Alias Jacky (Rs 1.75 cr) and Pokkiriraja (Rs 1.67 cr).

Some among the malayali audiences think that after the initial hype this Mohanlal film Shikkar gets a dip in it's collection and it even failed to recover it's cost. For those, here is the actual stats of how much this film had gathered so far from it's theatrical run. Shikkar, Mohanlal's this year's Ramzan release had collected exactly about Rs 14.4 cr from the theaters itself with a distributor share of around Rs 6.9 cr in it's 50 day run, and the glorious run of Shikkar is still going strong in B & C centers.

Shikkar is this year's second highest grosser after the Pokkiriraja (Rs 18 cr). Pokkiriraja did it because there wasn't any great film to compete with it but it was not the case of Shikkar. All the films released during this Ramzan season were good and Shikkar had to really work it hard. The fact is clear when you check it out that all the 3 Ramzan releases were declared as hits, while Shikkar going on to make it a Megahit with it's awesome collection.

Also, Shikkar is the biggest solo hit for any actor in this year. The film, made in a budget of around Rs 5 cr thus have made it into the Megahit tag without any doubt. The film turns out to be a great one for it's producer by etching some whooping amounts of about Rs 1.9 cr as Satellite right by Asianet, Rs 2.2 cr as Overseas + Video + Audio rights.

Also,some people think that Elsamma is the real hit among this year's Ramzan releases. It's a true fact that Elsamma is a hit when the total collection of this film is compared with it's total budget and it should be noted that it is nowhere near the total collection of Shikkar, mainly due to the stupendous initials that this Mohanlal starer had earned. It's also true that the gross collection of Elsamma from the 4th week onwards is higher when compared to that of Shikkar.

All this was possible for Shikkar, mainly due to the charismatic presence of our dearest lalettan in it and the same is being expected from his upcoming releases like Kandahar, Christian Brothers, Casanovva, China Town etc.

Shikkar still going strong all across the state

God's own Superstar Mohanlal's this years Ramzan release Shikkar has been well accepted by the viewers and is now declared as one of the big hits of this year. This new Mohanlal starer is still running in almost all the major centers in Kerala and has grossed over 10 crores within it's 22 day run, which is an extra ordinary statistics. The film is still continuing it's hunt in about 48 centers.

Lal Jose directed Elsamma Enna Aankutty is also doing a descent job at the Kerala Box office, though the collection of this film is not even half way mark closer to what Shikkar had earned. This film too is running in almost all the major centers in Kerala and had collected around 4.8 crores with it's 4 week run at the box office. The film is still remaining in about 47 centers.

Among this years Ramzan releases, Mammootty's Pranchiyettan & The Saint remains at the third spot and the film has earned around 4 crores from it's 4 week run at the Kerala Box office. The sad thing related with this film is that this film has now been removed from some of the major releasing stations in Kerala. Also the film is remaining only in about 23 centers all across the state.

Vande Matharam, yet another Mammootty starer that released two weeks after the Ramzan releases was a disaster at the Kerala Box office. The film was not even able to fetch a descent initial for it and as a result the film got hold over from almost all the major centers in it's first week itself. This film only collected around 1.5 crore in total from it's 2 week run at the Kerala Box office and is only remaining in less than 10 theaters all across the state.

It's quite clear that with the release of Superstar Rajnikant's magnum opus Enthiran, the most affected films happens to be Mammootty's both the films, Pranchiyettan & The Saint and Vande Matharam. The other two films, Shikkar and Elsamma Enna Aankutty were able to stand strong against the great wave created by directed Shanker's Enthiran at the Kerala Box office.

Shikkar : Numero Uno at the Kerala Box-office

All the Ramzan releases has now completed one week at the Kerala box office and the collections for each of the films are listed below.

Shikkar is still going strong all over, not only in Kerala but also in the other parts of the world. This new Mohanlal starer had an extraordinary opening from it's 101 screens in Kerala. Also this film did well in other places like Chennai, Banglore etc. This film has netted in a whooping amount of Rs 6.5 crore from it's first week. This will mark about Rs 3.25 crore as it's distributer share.

Surprisingly, Lal Jose directed Elsamma Enna Aankutty has emerged as the runner up at the box office. This youngster film from the noted director had fetched around Rs 1.54 Crore from 63 releasing centers in Kerala. At third is Mammootty-Renjith teams Pranchiyettan & The Saint, which is having not a great run at the box office. This film had collected Rs 1.42 Crore in a week from 61 screens in Kerala.

According to the trade, Shikkar is all set to become one of the major hits at the box office in recent times. Where as, the other two Ramzan releases may end up as profit making films, which will heavily depend on the other main releases to follow.

The main other releases to follow are Mammootty's much delayed Vande Matharam, Jayasurya's Cocktail, Indrajith's Chekavar and Prithviraj's Anwar. Out of these, Mammootty's Vande Matharam has released yesterday and as per the initial day report this film will end up as a disaster and so won't make any waves at the Kerala box office.

Malayalam Box Office Report: Shikkar Mania all over

A good news for all the Mohanlal fans to cheer up. His latest film Shikkar has now been declared by the trade analysts as a blockbuster. The film which started off with a big bang has now earned a whooping amount of Rs. 4.8 crores as it's gross from the first 4 days.

This new Mohanlal starrer is going strong all across the Kerala with only positive reviews coming from all around. Mohanlal fans are celebrating this film in a grant fashion since it happens to be the much awaited film from their hero. The way this film is running in Kerala had made it's lead actor Mohanlal happy and as a result of it he said that he will now be more selective with his films.

This film released along with the other two Ramzan releases Mammootty's Pranchiettan & The Saint and Lal Jose's Elsamma Enna Aankutty. Both these films doesn't live up to their expectations, so will have to suffer from the hands of Mohanlal's Shikkar. As per the trade, both these films may end up it's run with some smile to their producers but the clear winner of this season is Mohanlal's Shikkar.

According to a close friend of mine from the film industry, Shikkar had earned Rs. 4.8 crores from it's initial 4 days where as Mammootty's Pranchiettan & The Saint earned around Rs. 1.8 in it's 3 day run and Elsamma with Rs. 2.2 from the same number of days. The way in which Shikkar is progressing may help it to become the biggest hit ever in the Malayalam film industry.

Initial day collection reports of Mohanlal's Shikkar

Quite clearly, it's now proven that Mohanlal is the undisputed King in the Malayalam film industry. Mohanlal's this years Ramzan release, Shikkar started off in a grand fashion with some tremendous collections from all across the state.

The main point to be noted is that the entire shows on the releasing day of this film were house fulls and as a result it had netted in a whooping amount of Rs. 1.3 crores as it's gross for the day. This is only third in terms of the collection report for the first day by a film, where the first spot too belongs to a Mohanlal film, Saagar Alias Jacky - Reloaded and Pokkiri Raja in the second spot.

Saagar Alias Jacky had netted in an amount of about Rs. 1.75 crores in it's initial day and pokkir Raja got about 1.67 on its first day. The following spots are equipped by Pazhassiraja(Rs. 1.2 crores), Kurukshetra(Rs. 98 lakhs) and Twenty 20(Rs. 96 lakhs).
